Homeopathic Remedies for Gastritis

2 minute read

By Shawn Hayes

Gastritis is an inflammation of the lining of the stomach. Homeopathy is a branch of medicine based on the principle that “like cures like,” wherein practitioners give minute amounts of the thing causing illness to the ill person to begin the healing process. There are four main homeopathic remedies for gastritis.

Nux Vomica

Nux vomica is made from the seeds of an evergreen tree found in Southeast Asia. These seeds contain strychnine and brucine. Nux vomica is given to those with gastritis who have symptoms such as heartburn and stomach pain after eating, waking up in the middle of the night with pain and bloating, and frequent constipation or diarrhea. These symptoms get worse when spicy and rich foods are consumed, and decrease when warm foods are consumed.

Lycopodium

Lycopodium is a type of club moss, which is also called a ground pine. They are found in the mountains and in the tropics. Lycopodium is given to those who have gastritis and the following symptoms: bloating, belching, easy fullness and indigestion connected to being stressed in social situations.

Pulsatilla

Pulsatilla is created from a dried herb called pasque flower. This homeopathic remedy is prescribed for those who are highly emotional and clingy, and whose symptoms change a lot. Two common symptoms are bloating and heartburn; however, other symptoms can include depression and a fear of death, loss of appetite, a white coating on the tongue, a greasy taste in the mouth, as well as diarrhea with mucus.

Veratrum Album

Veratrum album, also called white hellebore, is commonly found in Europe (but not the British Isles). It has a yellowish-white flower. It is also highly poisonous. Veratrum album would be prescribed for those with gastritis and the following symptoms: hiccuping after drinking hot drinks, forcible belching of mostly air, forcible belching of air after eating, ejection of mucus after burping, terrible hunger, great thirst and vomiting.
