How to Detoxify Your Body Through Your Feet

Chinese medicine teaches that the feet are one of the most important centers of the body and reflexology recognizes them as the body’s natural cleaning system. As your body circulates fluids and the toxins it has accumulated along with them, they travel through the feet where some of the toxins are expelled before being pumped back through the body. But this process can’t handle all of the toxins that our body’s come into contact with on a daily basis in the modern world. However, there are a few ways that you can help your body detoxify through your feet.

Apply a foot patch. Foot patches like the Takara foot patch are coated with all-natural ingredients that, when placed on your feet overnight, remove toxins, parasites and heavy metals from the body. When you remove them in the morning, they will be darker in color and smell unpleasant–a sign that they are detoxifying your body. For thorough detoxification, they should be worn at night for a period of 90 days or until the patch no longer changes color or smells.

Cleanse your feet with an ionized foot bath. The ionized water in the foot bath purges toxins in the body and the liver, reduces fluid retention and inflammation and improves the immune system. However, while many spas offer ionized foot bath treatment to thoroughly detoxify the body you must submerge your feet in the bath for 35 minutes every other day for a period of at least 28 days.

Apply a mud pack to your feet. Mud is a natural detoxifier that is much more effective when applied to the bottom of the feet, the body’s cleansing system, rather than the whole body. Mud can be purchased online, and when applied to the soles of the feet nightly for 90 days, it can work to cleanse the body of toxins.
