Homemade Remedies for Dry Cough

Coughing is the body’s natural way to keep your throat and airways clear of mucus and irritating particles. A dry cough contains no phlegm and could be a result of the cold, flu, allergies, pollutants or acid reflux. Home remedies for dry cough include using natural foods and herbs.

Natural Foods Effective for Dry Cough

Most foods and ingredients in your home can be used to remedy a dry cough. Grapes are effective when used in homemade remedies for dry cough because they act as an expectorant by clearing the throat’s airways. Black pepper acts similarly by opening up the throat, and sugar cane is beneficial in relieving wheezing in the chest. Honey is one of the most common remedies because it serves as a cough suppressant and has antibacterial properties, as does garlic. Apple cider viinegar is good for coughs as it dissolves mucus and reduces inflammation. Watermelon is helpful in remedying dry cough because it moisturizes the throat.
