This homemade remedy for colic is tried and true. My mom used it on my brothers’ and I, and now that I am a mother, I have used it on my kids too. When my baby girl gets fussy with colic, I use this remedy and it works every time.
In a pot, add water and bring to a boil. Take the tea leaves or the tea bag of chamomile and steep for at least 5 minutes or until the water darkens.
Next take the olive oil and warm it up a little. You can do this by putting the oil in the palm of your hands and placing near a light bulb from a lamp. Rub the warmed oil on your baby’s stomach and on the bottom of your baby’s’ feet.
Place some socks on your baby and wrap him/her with the baby blanket to keep them nice and warm.
Now go check on the tea. Once it’s ready, take a sieve if you used the tea leaves and pour it into the sieve to separate the leaves from the tea, if not just discard the tea bag. Add sugar to slightly sweeten the tea and pour it into the baby bottle. If the tea is too hot, add ice cubes to cool the tea a bit so it’s warm enough for the baby to drink.
Once your baby has drank some of the tea, pick him/her up and burp him/her. Hold the baby close to your body, the warmth will help them feel better and they’ll be able to sleep.
