Gynecomastia is the formation of large breasts in men. While it is not an uncommon condition, it can cause embarrassment. When it occurs during puberty, it almost always resolves within a few months to a year. Possible causes of gynecomastia include hormones during puberty, steroid use, genetic predisposition, obesity, side effect of Klinefelter’s syndrome or side effects from medications.
Hiding Gynecomastia
Try taping protruding nipples with transparent tape, paper tape or wrap an Ace bandage around the chest to create a smooth appearance under clothing.
Wear one, or two, tight, snug-fitting heavy weight tank tops beneath a normal shirt to hold larger breasts in place.
Wear over sized, loose fitting, shirts to conceal the chest area. Layer several baggy shirts over one another so breasts are hidden within the flowing fabric. Or wear one normal size shirt with a loose shirt on top.
Wear specially designed compression garments with panels over the breasts. Choose the correct pressure in milligrams of mercury. For gynecomastia, a pressure of 18-22 milligrams of mercury is recommended. This will be tight around the chest, but not so tight that it is uncomfortable.
