Natural Remedies for the Flu

Grate one teaspoon of ginger root and add to boiling hot water. Cover this mixture and let it steep for 10 minutes. Drain the ginger root out of the water. Drink three cups of this tea per day.

Add half a teaspoon of ginger and cinnamon to one cup of hot milk. For taste, mix in one tablespoon of honey and stir. Drink this solution while it is still warm to help relieve and shorten the duration of the flu.

Boil 8 ounces of water and then add one tablespoon of fresh basil. Allow the tea to steep for 10 minutes, and then drain out the basil. Add half-a-teaspoon of ground cloves to the tea for taste. This tea will cause you to sweat, which will keep your fever down.

Combine 1 ounce of peppermint leaves and 1 ounce of elder flowers (both dried) into a saucepan. Add one cup of water into the pan and place the temperature on medium. Allow the mixture to steep for 15 minutes, but make sure that the water and ingredients do not begin to boil. Drain the ingredients out of the tea and pour into a glass. Drink this mixture for near immediate relief of a fever. You can add one tablespoon of honey to the tea to sweeten it.

Boil 8 ounces of water and add 3 tablespoons of washed chamomile flowers. Allow these ingredients to steep for 15 minutes. Drain the flowers out of the water, and pour. Sweeten with 1 tablespoon of honey, and consume two times per day throughout the duration of your flu.
