In some cultures, a few wrinkles on the forehead are a sign of a wise and respected person, but if you’re afraid of looking a little too wise before your time, you may be on the hunt for natural remedies for forehead wrinkling. Luckily, plenty of options are available to eliminate, or at least reduce the appearance of, forehead wrinkles without resorting to face-lifts and harsh chemical peels.
Topical Options
When it comes to topical treatments for reducing wrinkles, many products claim to be “natural.” Search the aisles of your local pharmacy (in the cosmetics section) for topical wrinkle creams that include Coenzyme Q10, copper and tea extracts, all natural ingredients that stimulate cell growth and skin repair.
Diet
Another option for reducing wrinkles is through diet and healthy living. Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water, for instance, helps the skin appear firmer and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. A healthy diet, rich in vitamins A, E and B-complex, also keeps skin healthier and more able to regrow and repair itself, which can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and help skin look generally younger.
Dermabrasion, Botox
While it may not sound appealing, dermabrasion works without chemicals, sanding down the top layers of skin with a rotating brush to make them appear smoother.
And crazy as it sounds, Botox injections are more “natural” than you might imagine. Though the brand name is Botox, the ingredient in the injection is actually a strain of botulinum toxin, a naturally occurring, if not incredibly toxic protein produced by bacteria. When used in cosmetic settings, it works by paralyzing the muscles of the forehead to make them lie flat. The lesson here is beware the label “natural” and ask questions about possible wrinkle remedies. Talk to your doctor about possible wrinkle treatments and explain that you’re looking for a noninvasive, natural treatment. Ask questions about any medications, chemicals or processes involved. Your doctor may be able to help you find a solution to your forehead lines that fits your definition of “natural.”
Relax!
It may not be the answer you want to hear, but one of the best ways to reduce wrinkles is to relax and let them come. Wrinkles are formed as muscles under the skin move in a certain way repeatedly, so for many people, forehead wrinkling begins by worry or stress or as a response to concentrating on readings or other materials. If your wrinkles are becoming a source of stress themselves, learn to let go and start thinking of them as a sign of your wisdom and serious nature. So take care of your skin through moisturizing, using sunblock and not smoking, and learn to relax a little–start enjoying a few laugh lines instead.
