Intense Pulse Light Therapy, a non-invasive treatment to remove dermatological blemishes, has few side effects compared to laser treatments and other skin therapies. Consult with your doctor before the treatment on any concerns you may have.

Pain

Some patients experience some mild during the procedure. A topical anesthetic can be applied to help with the discomfort related to Intense Pulse Light Therapy.

Sunburn

A mild sunburn is a common side effect of IPL Therapy. The patient may experience peeling and a little swelling a few days after the treatment.

Pink Skin

Your skin may turn pink or red after the procedure, but this should disappear within two to three days of the treatment.

Blistering

While rare, blistering may occur when too much heat is created during the light therapy process.

Bruising

According to Vanessa Ngan, Staff Write at DermNet NZ bruising occurs in only 10% of patients who receive Intense Pulse Light Therapy.
