The grape is known to have many health and medicinal value. Grape leaves have been used as bandages, wines have been known to reduce cholesterol levels and even the sap is known to cure skin diseases. However, it is the grape seed extract that holds the powerful benefits to cancer.

Antioxidants

Grape seed extract is loaded with antioxidants, which are powerful for destroying free radical compounds. Free radicals come from the environment in the form of UV rays, air pollution and cigarette smoke. Excessive free radicals in the body lead to cancer cells.

Resveratol

Resveratol is produced naturally in grapes and interferes with cancer cell growth.

Natural Apoptosis

Grape seed extract accelerates the natural process of apoptosis, which is an organic process in the body that kills cancerous cells on its own.

Promotes Apoptosis

Flavonoids like proanthocyanidins, found in grape seed extract, also promote apoptosis. A study at the University of Kentucky in 2009 stated that research showed patients exposed to grape seed extract diminished the leukemia cells by 76 percent within 24 hours.

Phytochemical Molecules

Phytochemical molecules are another cancer fighting agent normally found in plants—particularly grape seeds.
