Red ginseng is often available in extracts, powders and capsule supplements. The active ingredients in red ginseng are called ginsenosides. Asian ginseng also has B vitamins and flavonoids.
Time Frame
Red ginseng needs to grow for four to six years before it is ready to be harvested and used. Harvesters can determine how old the plant is by checking the wrinkles that appear about the neck of the root.
