What Is Vitamin K Cream?

2 minute read

By Shawn Hayes

Vitamin K cream is a topical ointment used on skin conditions that need healing by strengthening blood vessel walls and lowering the chances of new injuries. When bruises appear, Vitamin K cream helps the body to reabsorb the blood. It diminishes the development of spider veins, broken capillaries and varicose veins. The cream is applied after moistening the skin with warm water and serves as a natural way to distribute Vitamin K to areas of the body.

History

Vitamin K was first used for medicinal purposes to support healthy skin in the 1900s; however, the cream was fairly recently changed from being prescription only.

Function

Vitamin K is a nutrient produced in the body that helps the liver generate proteins to stop excessive bleeding by encouraging blood clotting.

Types

Some Vitamin K creams contain arnica, which evens the overall tone of skin and activates skin healing. Others have a green tea antioxidant blend to bring out a youthful glow.

Time Frame

Vitamin K cream should be applied twice daily. Depending on the skin condition, results can be seen in as little as eight to 14 days. It typically takes six to eight weeks for spider veins to disappear and two to three days for bruises.

Benefits

Vitamin K cream can also be used in every day circumstances to help relieve minor burns, stretch marks, scarring, and skin irritations.
