A sore throat can be a real nuisance. Making homemade sore throat tea can provide relief. This article provides step-by-step instructions for making sore throat tea.

Go to the store and pick up the following items if you do not already have them at home: lemon, ginger root (a small root is fine), honey and coffee filters. You will also need a grater (a cheese grater will work).

Take out a coffee filter, the ginger root and the grater. Spread the coffee filter out flat and using the grater, grate the ginger root onto the filter. You will want to grate until you have enough ginger root to fill a tablespoon.

Fill a microwave safe mug with water. Fill until 3/4 of the cup is filled. Heat it in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes. If you do not have a microwave, heating the water on the stove will work fine as well.

Remove the mug from the microwave. Pick up the coffee filter and twist the edges together so that the ginger root is sitting in a ball at the bottom of the filter. Dip the ginger root in and out of the hot water for about two minutes (similar to the way you would dip a tea bag).

Slice the lemon and squeeze a section of the lemon into the water once you have removed the ginger root coffee filter. Add two table spoons of honey and mix with a spoon.

Enjoy your tea and sip slowly as the contents will be hot.
