How to Use Raw Eggs in a Diet
Although the consumption of raw food was long considered too dangerous to risk, certain individuals are nevertheless embracing the concept of a raw food diet. Raw food enthusiasts claim that cooking food denatures the nutrients contained therein, making them less bioavailable to your body. Eggs are a popular item for raw consumption, but there are certain steps that you need to take in order to decrease your risk of contracting an illness.
Dieting with Raw Eggs
Crack the egg into a glass or bowl before consuming it or otherwise mixing it with any other substances. Visually examine the egg for abnormalities. Look for discolorations in both the yolk and the white part of the egg.
Smell the egg before consuming it. Unsafe and otherwise stale products often have an odor that seems “wrong,” so trust your instincts if you feel that the egg is spoiled or otherwise inappropriate for consumption.
Consume the egg raw (simply drink it if you had it in a glass) or mix it into another product to mask the taste. A good way to include raw eggs in a diet for individuals who cannot stand the taste or texture of raw food is to mix it into a protein shake. Simply mix a scoop or two of protein powder in milk and blend in one or more raw eggs (following a thorough inspection of each one). You will likely not even notice the flavor, but your body will still have the chance to benefit from the consumption of food in its natural state.
