Remedy for Nausea & Dizziness

Nausea is a feeling of discomfort in your stomach. It is not a disease, but a symptom that accompanies various conditions. Dizziness is caused by a reduction in blood flow to the brain. It is also a symptom of an underlying condition. You may experience feeling faint of lightheaded. Feeling dizzy is a common complaint that often is resolved on its own.

Dizziness

For the sudden onset of dizziness, try focusing on a fixed point. Focusing on a fixed point promotes a feeling of balance. This technique helps ease the feelings of dizziness. Make sure you get out of bed slowly to avoid drops in blood pressure which cases dizziness. Drink eight to 12 glasses of water daily to remain adequately hydrated. Staying hydrated is a prevention and remedy for dizziness. When you begin to feel dizzy, slow down breathing to balance carbon dioxide intake. Avoid the consumption of salty and sugary foods when going through a dizzy spell. Also stay away from caffeine, alcohol and diet drinks as they can aggravate feelings of dizziness.

Nausea

Ginger is a widely known remedy for nausea. It can be consumed in tea, capsules, cookies or supplements. Peppermint or chamomile teas are also effective home remedies for nausea. Snack on crackers or cheese throughout the day to keep stomach from getting empty when suffering from nauseas feelings. Try drinking equal parts of apple cider vinegar and honey before bed time, and get adequate amounts of rest to reduce feelings of nausea. Be sure to thoroughly chew food and drink liquids between rather than with meals. To alleviate feelings of nausea, suck on a lemon or lime wedge with a dash of salt on top. Chew on some cumin seeds or put them in yogurt or milk. Cumin seeds have properties that help reduce the feelings of nausea.

Considerations

Do not try any home remedies for nausea and dizziness if underlying condition is pregnancy before consulting with a physician. See a doctor if nausea or dizziness is accompanied by abdominal pain, uncontrolled vomiting, high fever and severe diarrhea. Seek immediate medical attention for chest pain, shortness of breath, dehydration and changes in mental status.
